Hand, Wrist & Elbow Surgery


Dr. Botwinick is Director of the New York Downtown Hand Center. He is an expert in the treatment of disorders of the upper extremity, with a special interest in traumatic injury and fracture care. Dr. Botwinick holds a faculty appointment at NewYork-Presbyterian/Lower Manhattan Hospital , as well an academic appointment at Weill Cornell Medical College.  Dr. Botwinick serves as an advisor to multiple corporate entities with regard to ergonomics, proper work station design, and prevention of workplace injury.

Dr. Botwinick is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons. In addition, he is member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the Eastern Orthopaedic Association, the New York Orthopaedic Society, the New York County Medical Society and the New York State Medical Society.

Dr. Botwinick is a graduate of Brown University and New York University School of Medicine. He completed his internship in general surgery at Bellevue Hospital and New York University and his orthopaedic surgical residency in the same institutions. He later went on to complete a Fellowship in Hand Surgery and Microsurgery at New York University and Bellevue Hospital. Dr. Botwinick is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and Hand Surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Since 1998, he has been listed multiple times as one of the “Best Doctors” for hand surgery by New York Magazine, and in Castle Connelly’s Guide to Top Doctors in the New York metro area.

Dr. Botwinick has a special interest in sports injuries, and has treated World Boxing Association Champion Luis Collazo, as well as members of the U.S. Olympic Team
